Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
