Numerous Gather at Opening Israeli Burial Ceremony After Captive Remains Came Back

While Michel Illouz gradually progressed through the throngs beneath the cypress trees and palm trees at the graveyard in Ra'anana, a community located about 21 km north of Tel Aviv, he expressed gratitude to as many attendees as possible.

Earlier he provided an open call to the local community to accompany his loved ones in mourning his 26-year-old son, Guy, whose physical form had been returned from Gaza on Monday.

Substantial Gathering

Numerous people answered the request. They lined the streets, accompanied the funeral vehicle carrying his remains, and arrived at the cemetery in such large quantities that the original plan to stage the memorial indoors had to be canceled.

Rather, the ceremony was organized in the open air, with the background of the sound of singing birds.

Important Moment

This signified the opening memorial service since the remaining 20 living hostages were returned from Gaza, accompanied by several deceased individuals. Additional more than twenty of the deceased hostages continue to be lost, but at the very minimum this household now had a designated location to grieve and remember their son, as stated by friends.

Heartbreaking Narrative

Guy Illouz, a musician and sound technician, had been targeted in his posterior at the Nova music festival during the Hamas offensive on October 7, 2023. Earlier that morning, he had contacted his father from a concealed location to tell him he cared; to bid farewell. He was taken hostage, and based on those captured simultaneously, he eventually succumbed from his trauma due to medical neglect.

Family Perspective

A family friend of the Illouz family, Michelle, aged 50, stated that it had been extremely important to them that people attended today. The Illouz family members, comprising Guy's female relatives and brother, had practiced the mourning period, the week-long period of bereavement, after being informed of his passing in December of the year before. But now that Guy was at long last back with them, they needed "supportive individuals again."

"It warms my heart that you attended," stated Michel. "We don't take it for granted."

Parent's Homage

He spoke to his son. "My Guy-shuk," he expressed, using a term of endearment, "it's hard for me to conceive the future without you. They grabbed you from me – they ended your life – they stole my being and took my sense of self and murdered my soul and feelings."

"I feel empty inside since that pointless violence by those malicious militants when they apprehended you and told you to turn around, and then simply fired two gratuitous rounds into your dorsal area."

Final Goodbye

"So I found myself this morning, driving to Abu Kabir forensic institute to verify your remains and say goodbye. They unveiled the shroud, and the initial sight I observed was that characteristic grin, that optimism, that peaceful presence and nobility that so characterized you."

"I touched you, tried to detect your scent, caressed every bone in your body. I looked at you, I was by myself with you, and yes, I felt with total assurance that it was you. Yes, I know, Guy-shuk, that you've rejoined our family. You've rejoined your loved ones' arms, to all your friends, and to the countless people whose hearts your story impacted."

Familial Courage

Throughout the early part of the memorial, Illouz had focused entirely on supporting his junior family members. He tenderly caressed the strands of his daughters, supported his male child, demonstrated love and composed himself for them. But then his feelings emerged.

Precious Moments

"I will long for so much traveling with you through this land, sensing your presence, listening to your compositions, relaxing in mountainous areas and activating the stove to create the drink the way only you mastered – 'Father, do you see the coffee froth? You have to boil it gently, let the lather develop, then simmer it additionally. Stir the coffee with spinning actions' – and then your smile while sipping the coffee and your pleasure in every particular taste."

"Prior to my departure Abu Kabir today, I fulfilled my commitment. I looked at you, breathed you in one last time, and yes, I bestowed affection on the front of your head. I was managed to observe your attractiveness even in the state in which you returned to us."

Closing Statement

"My dear son, I care for you deeply, I treasure you. I will long for you every second and minute of my time. Find peace, my beloved son, relax after a passage of 24 months through unexplored dimensions to us. I hold you dear, my dear Guy, my treasured initial offspring."
