Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
