Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
